Dystopian sci-fi adventures are on the cards in this impressive Philip K Dick-inspired piece by Thirsk-based director Ross Anderson. A timid girl enters a rather dilapidated barber’s shop, but it’s more of a head-cut than a hair-cut for the girl, who isn’t entirely what she seems.
It features not only some top CGI work – including the intricate insides of a mechanical skull – but also some incredibly entertaining and effective prosthetics work that harks back to some sci-fi classics like Alien and Terminator.
Ross was given the chance to work with SBTRKT and Young Turks as part of a competition run by North of England music development agency Generator and Northern Film & Media film project, and since the production of this video he has signed to J6 Films.
James Baxter from J6 said: “We were totally blown away by Ross’ SBTRKT video at a screening and knew immediately that his distinctive, boundary-pushing style would complement J6’s existing roster. Thankfully, our move was successful and we are excited at the prospect of collaborating with Ross on future projects.”
